the first time i tried this cheese was a long time ago when i was eight or nine in strastbourg. it is less creamy than brie and the cheese crust can mold really fast. it has a bitter taste. i always thought that camembert was the most famous cheese in france, but then i guess people preferred brie.
the most famous brand is president, but not necessary taste better. i have bought some at costco and it comes in a really big round wooden packaging. lanquetot and le rustique has better tasting camembert.
the best way to eat cheese is to have a platter of several cheeses and eat them before dessert then you can really taste each one and savour the unique flavor of each. please do not spread them on crackers rather spread them on bread. crackers are too small for the amount of cheese, use them for caviar instead.
